Our tandem learning offers

After registering for the E-tandem language course via Stud.IP, the tandem team will provide you with the contact details of a tandem partner.

If the E-tandem is part of a language course, the email topics are prepared as part of the language course.

You write two emails per week to your tandem partner: one in your foreign language and one as a reply in your mother tongue. The latter will contain corrections to your tandem partner's email.

Each email should be sent in CC copy to e-tandem@llc.uni-hannover.de.

From the third week of the course, you should communicate with your tandem partner via videotool. These video sessions can be done from home.

Please note: For some courses two video sessions (60 - 90 min) are compulsory.

If you would like to receive ECTS credits for this course, you must keep a tandem portfolio during this time.

The course ends after six weeks.

Participation certificate:

• writing eight emails in a period of four to six weeks with error correction of your tandem partner's emails.

Certificate of achievement: two to three ECTS points (no grade).

• in addition to the requirements for the certificate of participation, two video sessions of 60 - 90 minutes and the submission of the tandem portfolio.

You register for the video tandem course.

The tandem team will give you the contact details of your tandem partner.

• First you write an email to your tandem partner.
• In this email, you discuss with your tandem partner on which day and at which time you would like to conduct the video tandem sessions.
• Together with your tandem partner, find a suitable time for both of you.

You should prepare for each video tandem session.

After the first session, you will attend the language learning consultation.

You will have three to eight video conversations (depending on the course) with your tandem partner during the semester.

After the end of the course, send the video tandem portfolio (video transcripts with glossary, reflection of a video conversation and evaluation of the tandem work) to e-tandem@llc.uni-hannover.de.

Participation certificate:

• writing an email
• three to eight video tandem sessions (depending on the video tandem partnership)
• language learning consultation after the first video tandem session

Certificate of achievement: two or four ECTS points (no grade)

• submission of the video tandem portfolio: video transcripts of a video conversation and evaluation of the tandem work

You meet with your tandem partner and discuss together how you want to organise your meetings.

You will then attend the language learning consultation (first meeting) together with Ms Schelm or in the tandem office to discuss your learning goals. If you would like to receive ECTS credits for your tandem participation, draw up a syllabus with the language learning consultation and create a tandem portfolio.

You meet once or twice a week for 90 minutes to study together. Each of you will keep a tandem portfolio in order to receive ECTS credits at the end.

After about four to five tandem meetings, you will attend the language learning consultation again (second meeting). If necessary, you can make use of the language learning consultation more frequently.

After eight joint meetings of 90 minutes each, the tandem course is finished (for the Spanish AVE courses there are a total of five meetings of 90 minutes each).

Participation certificate:

• five to eight meetings with your tandem partner and one language learning consultation.

Certificate of achievement: two to three ECTS points (no grade)

• one additional language learning consultation with Ms Schelm or Ms Manrique (Spanish) and submission of the tandem portfolio.
