Language learning consultation

The tandem pairs who want to learn more effectively and receive ECTS points should necessarily visit the language learning consultation. The aim of the language learning counsellors is to support the tandem pairs in their foreign language learning and to help them to take responsibility for their own learning process and to find efficient ways of learning together.

Language learning consultations for tandem learning again in presence

From 01 November 2021 it's again possible to perceive consultations in presence after prior online appointment booking.

The meetings with the tandem partner are often not prepared and the learning is therefore aimless and less effective. ... prepare the respective tandem meetings in a planned and structured way so that learning is more productive and results-oriented. Procedure of the language learning consultation

First language learning consultation

  • First, we determine your language level in the target language.
  • Then, learning goals are set together.
  • The next step is to clarify how you can best achieve these learning goals with your tandem partner.
  • For this purpose, smaller sub-goals are determined which are important on the way to the overall learning goal. In addition, we will discuss which resources you can use to achieve your learning goals. Learning objectives, learning content, learning path and resources are recorded in a learning plan.
  • In a learning diary you record what you have learned and how.

Second language learning consultation

  • In the second language learning consultation we will talk about what you have achieved. Have you been successful in your learning or are there other, more effective ways to achieve your learning goals?
Who should visit the language learning consultation?

If you want to receive a participation certificate or a certificate of achievement for working in tandem, you have to visit the language learning consultation once or twice. However, we advise all tandem pairs to visit the language learning consultation after one or two meetings as a tandem pair. 

The language learning consultation is
  • not a private coaching
  • not a correction service
  • not a language course.

Study room for tandem pairs with tutorial support

The study room is intended for students who would like to learn a language autonomously with their tandem partner or deepen their knowledge.

As a tandem pair, you have the opportunity

  • to work on and carry out your learning project with your tandem partner
  • to work on learning programmes on computers with your tandem partner
  • to find out about alternative learning methods
  • to receive learning support from the tandem team.
