The DSH levels and the calculation of the result

The DSH consists of three levels:

  • DSH-1 (at least 57%)
  • DSH-2 (at least 67%)
  • DSH-3 (at least 82%)

You can achieve a total of 700 points in the written DSH.

In the individual examination sections Text Production (TP), Listening Comprehension (HV) and Reading Comprehension (LV) you can achieve a total of 200 points. In the examination part Scientific Linguistic Structures (WS) you can achieve 100 points. You must achieve the following points for the individual DSH levels:

  • DSH-1: at least 399 points
  • DSH-2: at least 469 points
  • DSH-3: at least 574 points

With an overall score of < 57% (< 399 points), the written DSH is considered "not passed".

After passing the written DSH, you have to take an oral exam to receive a certificate. In the oral examination you can achieve a total of 100 points. The same percentage limits apply here as in the written DSH. Therefore, you will receive one result with level in the written part and another result with level in the oral examination.

Important:

For the final result of the DSH, the worse of the two marks from the written and oral sections will be assessed. Therefore, you must have achieved at least DSH-2 in both the written and the oral examination in order to get DSH-2 in the final result.
