D-intensive (DSH preparation)

German Intensive Courses for Future Students of the Leibniz University of Hanover

Whenever possible, it is our objective to teach German in an academic context. This is facilitated through authentic learning situations such as lectures, seminars, in the canteen and many more places in which non-native students do not only learn to listen and speak, but also to read and write German. This approach helps to not only understand how German works in an academic context, but also to familiarise international students with the university's structures.

From the very beginning, German will be taught with specific materials connected to the academic context of the university in order to facilitate successful studies at a German university.

Our goal is a successful preparation for the officially recognised DSH-examination („Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang“ – German Language Examination for University Admission). We wish to support university applicants as best as possible and give them a venture point for their successful studies at the Leibniz University.

Each module is completed with a intermediate exam which is necessary to partake in the following modules. Further assessment tests give us the opportunity to place students in the right classes. In the future, these German intensive classes will comprise a complete program from beginner classes to the DSH-examination.

Plan ahead

Please note that learning German up to a C1-level takes some time. To reach a B1-level, you will have studied German for at least half a year. Reaching C1 at the LLC takes 7 months with double the content than B1. Do not underestimate this.
